Despite the large, intimidating stature, a heart of gold lies within Fornax. Pre-ARR, she was purposely offputting and stand-offish, and walled off most emotions as a defense mechanism. Nowadays, Fornax is significantly less prickly and has learned to love and trust with less fear. Beyond the veil of initial awkward and wary interactions, they're quite friendly and deeply caring.However, having a heart of gold does not make them soft; Fornax holds the way of the Warrior close to their heart, they harness and is driven by their raw emotions, using them to further strengthen them when necessary. They WILL be aggressive when provoked, and tunnel visions on the threat until it is no longer.Fornax is also driven by her need to often be on the move, adventuring is her life and blood, whether solo or with her partner, Ryssrael. They have a very curious nature, and always loves to learn new crafts and skills along the way.

Background

  Childhood    Originally being born in the Azim Steppe and into the Dotharl clan, Fornax had fled with their parents to escape the rough ways of their clan, for both parents wanted them to have the choice to live the life they wanted. Fornax's mom was a Roegadyn merchant, and their dad an Au Ra warrior.For a couple years, they had settled down outside of Ul'dah, for they could not afford to live within, but tried their best to provide for Fornax and began teaching her various skills at a young age, ranging from foraging, to the basics of defending herself. Perhaps they weren't in an ideal living situation, but they were still happy.Things took a grim turn when both of Fornax's parents were murdered by petty thieves and bandits that were known for terrorizing the area. While they had no known relatives to rely on, Fornax was at least familiar with a few of the local merchants, and had befriended someone who was a pillar of support in these trying times: Delmira. By their late teen years, Fornax had began digging their claws into varying jobs to scrape by, and would eventually wind up in Limsa Lominsa.  Pre-ARR    At this time, Fornax had been ping-ponging between Thanalan and La Noscea for bounties and contracts as a lone wolf freelancer, some time before bumping into the Scions. At a point, they had taken up an escort contract for a shipment from Ul'dah to Limsa, and ended up rivaling a Roegadyn who was equally strong and sturdy in fights, Ryssrael. Fornax simultaneously admired her contagious confidence, and was pissed off by it and her cockiness.After a few more instances of rivalry within jobs, they had ended up tagging along with Ryssrael and her small crew, something they thought would be temporary. In time, Fornax had grown fond of her, and would have their life deeply entwined with hers.  Post-ENW    After the events of Endwalker, Fornax and Ryssrael vanish without a word or warning, all the way out on their own island sanctuary. They have a private Eternal Bonding, and take some time away from all the stress and noise to peacefully enjoy a vacation together.

  BOUND TO THE DEMONS OF THE SEA, TILL I BECAME THE HUNTER    In this universe, Fornax learns to never rely on the world that has betrayed them once, never again. It molds them into a relentless, unforgiving monster - in a literal sense. Having been abandoned by their very first group that was meant to guard a ship, Fornax was beaten down by raiders, and then thrown overboard into the ocean for refusing compliance.Mysteriously given a "second chance" of sorts with a curse placed upon them, Fornax returns from down under, with nothing but hatred, bloodthirst, and vindication towards the world. An abyssal merfolk masked as a lone wolf, a bounty hunter that took on any job to survive. Their final target, however, was one that they were shockingly unprepared for...  THE CAPTAIN'S SHADOW    There has only been one soul who has managed to best Fornax, one who matched their own strength and ferocity in combat and skill: Captain Waenwyn. The final target of Fornax's bounty hunting career, before they ended up taking up her offer to join her crew. There was, of course, internalized envy for what she had - a crew that stuck by her side. Despite their initial resentment for various reasons, they did have an attraction to Ryssrael, and would soon become her fierce attack dog, a dog with undying loyalty and devotion.Fornax's purpose was to kill for their captain, and they would do so with an unsettling, sheer eagerness. They shadow her during interrogations, during ship invasions in combat, and even in less intense environments.  SOLAR ECLIPSE, LUNAR ECLIPSE    Fornax winds up with Ryssrael and having deeper emotions for her in time, but their relationship with her is still very, very far from flowers and sunshine. It's erotic gore, it's the captain keeping her attack dog leashed and muzzled, it's Fornax being homesick for the hands that have reigns on them, it's a starved beast seeking affection for its obedience and devotion, it's cannibalism being a metaphor for love. It's a toxic, possessive love. Whatever they have going on, it's best to not get involved.
